Château Laurier Site Plan Control Application - Proposed Development


The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan Control application to remove the existing parking garage at the Château Laurier hotel and construct an addition containing 218 long-stay hotel units, an interior courtyard and five levels of underground parking with 385 parking spaces.

Send the City your feedback on the proposed development of the iconic Château Laurier Hotel by March 14. Please email chateaulaurier@ottawa.ca to be added to the notification list. City staff will notify individuals on the notification list of all meeting dates and decisions by email.

You can participate in the public consultation process for this proposal in several ways. You may:

Residential Fourth Density (R4) Zoning Review 

  Please provide your comments on the draft recommendations for the R4 study before April 19 . The City plans to bring a report to Planning Committee and Council in fall of 2017.  The Residential Fourth Density (R4) family of zones is the city's most intensive low-rise residential zone. R4 zoning covers much of Ottawa's old established low-rise neighbourhoods in the inner urban area, including Centretown, Sandy Hill, Vanier, Overbrook, Hintonburg and Westboro.

Trans Orléans Pathway (Liska Street to Trim Road)

The City wants your feedback before March 9 on the functional design of the Trans Orléans pathway. The detailed design will be carried out in spring 2017. Construction may begin as early as summer 2017.







 

Official Plan Update: Adoption of Comprehensive Amendment 180

Official Plan Amendment No.180 addresses three matters that the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) required the City to complete, prior to the OMB's consideration of Comprehensive Official Plan Amendment 150 (OPA 150) including: 
 
  • Growth Projections:  Changes to the timeframe of the Official Plan from 2031 to 2036. This change results in new projections for future population, households and employment and text changes to the Plan.
  • Employment Lands: Changes include the conversion of excess urban employment lands to non-employment designations, the re-designation of enterprise areas, the creation of a new rural employment area designation and amended policies and land use permissions for employment areas.
  • Agricultural Lands: Some changes to the agricultural resource area designation were made along with policy updates resulting from the update to the Land Evaluation and Area Review (LEAR) system.

Zoning study: Small-scale industrial uses in commercial zones 

This City is looking for your feedback  on the study to consider new zoning provisions for small-scale manufacturing, small-scale food processing, micro-distilleries and micro-breweries in commercial areas. Please forward comments before March 9 to carol.ruddy@ottawa.ca.  Comments received will be considered in the evaluation of the proposal.  

Ottawa Art Gallery Expansion and Arts Court Redevelopment

The Federal Government announced its financial support for the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) expansion and Arts Court redevelopment on Friday, February 17, 2017.  The redevelopment project will receive $5.25 million to fund the expansion of the gallery and the redevelopment of the Arts Court building. The gallery will receive an additional $1.3 million for specialized equipment for the new space. Construction is expected to finish in the late summer of 2017 and the Arts Court redevelopment in 2018. To learn more about the project, visit ottawa.ca/oagartscourt.
