March 2018 Project Update - Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) Expansion and Arts Court Redevelopment

Construction Activity and Progress

The building continues to buzz with activity, in the new expansion, both exterior and interior plus Main Floor of Arts Court and exterior façade.  As construction continues, Arts Court remains open at 2 Daly Ave and OAG Exhibitions are on display at Ottawa City Hall. 

The construction team is finalizing work in the new expansion and is looking forward to the OAG’s Opening Gala scheduled for April 27, 2018 and Grand Opening scheduled for April 28, 2018.

Public Art Open House - OAG Expansion and Arts Court Redevelopment Project

Five artists have been short listed to create detailed designs of their creative public art concepts for exterior spaces at the Arts Court facility as part of the Ottawa Art Gallery Expansion and Arts Court Redevelopment Project. 148 international artists enthusiastically responded to a Request for Qualifications and the Art Selection Committee shortlisted five artists:   
The public is invited to meet the artists, view the proposals and record their comments. The Art Selection Committee will take the public’s comments into consideration when they meet to evaluate the proposals and select the winning design.

The City of Ottawa commissions local artists’ works for display in public spaces.  A percent of funds for municipal development projects is set aside for public art in order to beautify the space and make art accessible to everyone.
