Young at Art

It’s the time of year when the work of Ottawa’s young artists can be seen showcased in Ottawa’s community art galleries. The artwork on display at Kanata Civic Art Gallery, Trinity Art Gallery at Shenkman Arts Centre and, the Atrium Art Gallery at Ben Franklin Place, this April to May will be from the city’s students who made it through the judging stage of Young at Art 2019. The exhibition, held annually since 1996, represents a tremendous opportunity for the public exhibition and recognition of the creative efforts of these young artists. All works are selected by jury and prizes are contributed by sponsors and the City of Ottawa.

To find an exhibit near you, look for locations and dates on the website.

What’s Happening

What we're excited about this month

What are you excited about for April? Join the conversation on Facebook and let us know!

Here’s hoping April means the end of winter and we can all start to enjoy all that spring brings. We are excited for family time over the Easter break, including egg hunts, movies and hot cross buns, and, hopefully some outside play. Most of the farms across the city open that weekend so we’ll be looking forward to our family tradition of visiting the spring lambs. I hope everyone enjoys so warmth and sun this April!

Even if snow is still on the ground, April is a time to start seeds for the garden. Plant herbs in pots and keep them indoors until after Victoria Day. As you use them, replenish with new seeds until late June or July so you can enjoy fresh flavours all summer long.
           -Karen

I am most excited about seeing grass again! Which means I will be playing softball soon, which is always so much fun (even if our team is terrible!). A few events I am very much looking forward to in April: Just for Laughs - Roadshow at Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, Jerry Seinfeld at the NAC, and Peggy Baker Dance at the NAC.
